Hi all,

First at all, I apologize for I can't typing Thai to you because I'm Taiwanese living in Bangkok.
I'm BMW lover and keep trying DIY many years to maintenance during some interesting issues but no workshop could helping or asking unreasonable price or doesn't agree my opinions such as:

Bad smell in cabin.
LED angel eyes.
Outside mirror fold-in repair.
Steering Wheel shift pad retrofit.
MP3 interface to replace CD changer but keep multi-function steering wheel operation.
Audio speaker upgrade, sub-woofer upgrade.
Dash Camera installing(this very important because too many free-mind driver or cheating group)
Engine part: Change Coil, Change Spark plugs, idle valve cleaning, change mass air flow, re-build Double VANOS seal ring ect.
NCS Expert coding, INPA, X431, BMW Scanner software detecting/deleting fault code or enable hidden function.

However, I'm glad to been here to knowing all you and I will keep update my E46 DIY diary.

Body strengthen for rear Shock Absorbers tower, E36 more necessary than E46.

coolant valve replace and electric fan replace mechanical fan.
electric fan could save few engine output to make a bit more powerful and no noise of mechanical fan

VANOS seal ring replacement
old ageing decline O-ring leaking inside make my 330 lower power like 323 before change, change O-ring make 232HP come back again.

Sunday not working, start playing car.
remove cabinet air filter
remove cooling fan
remove cover, coil, and valve cover
seeing VANOS, scaring black tar during "C" brand oil, so I change to "Shexx" brand with "red horse logo" 5W-40 from now on.




remove VANOS assembly then go change seal o-ring in house, New material O-ring from USA





Old ageing decline o-ring

Lot of M52TU and M54 got same VANOS assembly and during the original designed it used a ageing decline material o-ring which will very possible to leaking inside after 50000-60000Km.

The leaking o-ring make piston of VANOS go wrong position, and it make intake/outlet mismatch so it make engine power lower because wrong condition.

As I asking around few workshop to change o-ring but all them telling me it's nobody doing and it have to change full assembly of VANOS.

I wondering the new parts of full assembly of VANOS cost 30-40K and it still use same ageing decline material o-ring that mean it will start leaking again after 50000-60000Km.

Worse thing is the metal part of VANOS all still good but have to change all assembly just cause the o-ring leaking? This is very waste for me.

So change only o-ring is reasonable but I have to get better o-ring which made by better material could working more than 60000Km.

That's what I got, and very very happy after this DIY because all lost power came back!!

And it's cost absolutely much much cheaper than full assembly of VANOS.

Also here a new toy for DIY. BOSCH 10.8 Li could even remove wheel bolt.

Change Spark Plug





Don't forget use torque wrench fit new spark plug to 25Nm as original service book mention.

Install MP3 interface and slim subwoofer.

This MP3 interface keep multi-function steering wheel working to volume up/down, change song forward/backward and display ID3 song name on original radio display.





This MP3 interface working good, I take 8GB SD card to storage over 1500 songs and could be more.

Another Harman Kardon speaker upgrade, this one is metal film and the old one is silk.
Frankly speaking I don't feel much different when I listening pop music or classical even opera, but I thing metal film look better.
